Working on getting the DVD authored this week and shipped out to everyone who has purchased one. Really appreciate your patience, and all the support so far. Submitted the film to the East Nashville Film Festival today...we'll see if it makes it in !

We have just secured the date of Wednesday April 16th to have another screening of the film. This time at The Family Wash.
Look for more updates as they develop, and save the date !

The picture edit is done, and the film is "locked" ! Working on finishing up all the small details, sound editing, shooting and inserting a few small insert shots. Excited to have a small local premiere at the Unbound Arts "Third Thursday" at The Building in East Nashville on Feb 20th.
Hope to have the book sent to press in a few days so people can look through it at the screening.

The new year is here, and we have been very busy since last Fall. The rough cut of the film is about half way there, and I have been working with award winning local photographer John Partipilo on the coffee-table book that will accompany the film. Very excited...as some people that may not make the film cut, will have a chance to be represented in the book. We are both working hard towards a mid-February deadline to be finished with everything...and plan to premiere the film and book at the Unbound Arts Third Thursday in February. Thanks again to everyone who has been a part of this project, and helped it become a reality.

Cannot believe how time has flown by this year...It seems that we just never had time to work on the project, but rest assured regardless of how fast the year has gone by, we always found time to shoot a few more interviews, and some more still photos for the companion book. We are fully involved in trying to get this film finished by the end of 2013. Just a few more people to interview, and some late days and nights editing...we look forward to an early Spring 2014 premiere of both the documentary and the coffee table book that goes with it. We thank you all for your support and encouragement. Let's get this thing in the can!

What a year it was! We are narrowing in on the final batch of interviews for the project...and hope to have those in the "can" by the end of January 2013. We continue to pour through and edit the mountain of video and music that will eventually become "East Side of the River" and it still is so amazing what a great collection of talented folk we are blessed with in this neighborhood! There are so many wonderful things about this project that are coming down the road...the eventual premiere, the companion book project, and a few other surprises. Thanks again for all your support in 2012, and we are going straight ahead with all that enthusiasm into 2013! Please continue to help spread the word about the project and remind people that you can still donate your support and get great rewards. Just check the "Get Involved" page on this site. Cheers!
December 1st, 2012
After a very busy Fall, the winter is here...and the project rolls on...
We continue to interview musicians of the neighborhood...just did two more this past week, and what little time we have to give to this is devoted to starting to edit down the wonderful conversations that we have captured. There are still a number of people that we need to talk to, and finding time to do that before the holiday is getting tough. The good news is that as we look at the interviews again we are so inspired and amazed at all the talent in this neighborhood. Each album that artists give us for review (for the soundtrack) is such a joy to listen to and picking the final songs is going to be tough!
Not sure how much is going to get done between now and the holidays, but hopefully we can put up some new clips on the website soon...To everyone who has supported the project and all the musicians of then neighborhood, we wish you all a happy holiday season. Cheers, from the "East Side of the River".

It has been quite busy during the past weeks, and that has been good for paying the bills, but it means that my documentary project kind of got put on the back burner for a bit. I am still trying to self-produce this project (and still VERY grateful for everyone who has contributed funds), but it means that when work (my real job) calls I need to feed the family. That said...this week is fairly open, and I am starting to EDIT! I cannot believe that I have completed over 50 interviews! There are still a few people that are left on my list to interview (you know who you are), and I hope to complete those by the end of the year, or at least before people start to scatter for the holidays. A huge 'thank you" as well to all the musicians and artists that have given me a few minutes of their time, and samples of their music, over the past months. I am still just as excited about this project as I was when I started...just looking over some of the interviews makes me smile and realize what a special project this is going to be. This neighborhood is changing so fast, and the national and international media continues to draw attention to East Nashville. The musicians that live here are a special breed, and I truly hope to showcase everyone's story with this film project.
For those of you that follow the project on FaceBook and Twitter, I apologize for not keeping up with timely postings of information. Rest assured that the project is still barreling forward and will continue to completion...I just do not have time to update as much as I should.
So from now til the holidays, it's editing, a few more interviews, shooting some more B-roll of the neighborhood, and looking towards finishing this thing by early next year.
Thank you again for all your support.
August 27th, 2012
This has been a busy month...for all the East Nashville musicians. This is the time of year that Summer tours are in full swing, and trying to schedule people for interviews, when they are home in the neighborhood for just a few days at a time, becomes increasingly frustrating. Despite all the craziness, we are still moving ahead with the project, and the plan. This time of year was anticipated to be a bit slower for production, but we look forward to connecting with those people that we have not interviewed yet when they return from touring around the world. The editing work has started, music is being chosen, and the excitement is building. After all that, not really much to report this month...I have been out making a living myself with all sorts of other interesting projects, and cannot wait for cooler weather, more editing and music listening, and shooting the last of the interviews this Fall. Lastly, as I said in last months update...if you or someone you know still want to support this project, there is a "donate" button on the Get Involved page of this website. Thanks again for all your support so far.

We just want to thank again all the people that supported the online fundraising campaigns on both Kickstarter and Indiegogo. Although the Kickstarter campaign did not make our goal (and we did not receive any funds) the Indiegogo one resulted in about $1000 toward the project.
There is still so much more needed to complete this documentary, and we truly appreciate all the help we have received to see that this project gets finished. In case you missed the online fundraisers, we have set up a "donate" button on this website where people can still help us out, and get the same rewards that we had offered on the other campaigns.
Now, as far as the project...we are really excited about the interviews, and all the other footage, that we have shot since the beginning of the Summer. The musicians of the neighborhood are starting to speak, and they all have such wonderful things to say. Since a lot of East Nashville residents are on tours during the Summer months, we will continue to schedule and shoot footage throughout the Fall, and we thank them all for taking time out of busy days to sit and tell their stories.
We will continue throughout the next month with shooting more interviews and neighborhood events, and want you to know that things are progressing with the project as planned, with a release scheduled for late 2012 or early in 2013. Thanks again for all your support!
